- Background
- To coincide with the b Store 'Pop-in' concession at Selfridges during September and October 2008 we designed and art directed the Pop-in Paper, an in-store magazine. Incorporating feature stories on the b Store's own Autumn/Winter collections and both studio and location shoots featuring the selected designers represented by the b Store. The magazine also included an exclusive discussion between the b Store Matthew Murphy and Kirk Beattie and Sir Paul Smith, 'Talking Shop'.
- Concept
- We wanted the design and art direction of the Pop-in Paper to combine and reflect both the ideas of British refinement / Savile Row sartorial elegance and the quirky and disruptive spirit of b Store, in order to create a unique publication. An uncluttered and understated elegance was applied to the typography and layout, mixing this with bold and adhoc typographic musings in order to achieve this. As a bespoke publication it was possible to manipulate the construction of the publication to make an unbound and untrimmed magazine as an unconventional spin on the magazine format, reflecting and communicating the b Stores unique approach.
